Concerned residents attended a community meeting at Glen Cove Hospital Wednesday night to discuss a plan to turn the facility into a specialized center to handle the Ebola virus.
North Shore-LIJ health officials said the center will take up the entire third floor of Glen Cove Hospital and is designed to treat up to two Ebola patients.
The center will also have its own entrance and exit. It would be completely separate from the rest of the hospital.
The hospital is one of eight designated Ebola treatment centers in the state and one of two on Long Island. The other is Stony Brook University Hospital.
