Eastport-South Manor SD to propose 71 staff cuts

News 12 Long Island has learned that Eastport-South Manor school officials are proposing 71 staff cuts, including teachers for next year.
The superintendent tells Newsday the "district has been living beyond its budget for a number of years."
    
As News 12 has reported, there is also a plan to possibly cut student programs and services, as well close one of the district's elementary schools.    
The next school board meeting is April 11.
Residents vote on the school budget proposals in May.
