Two burglars gave an East Islip woman the scare of her life Tuesday.
The victim, an immigrant from Hong Kong who asked not to be identified, said at around 11:30 a.m. she heard the doorbell ring.
"I don't know him so I no open the door," the woman said.
Minutes after she returned upstairs and pretended she wasn't home, police said the burglars, presumably thinking nobody was home, broke in through the back porch. The victim said the men, one of whom had a pipe, came up to the bedroom and found her. She said they covered her face, tied her up and left her there. The victim said they stole money and jewelry, including her wedding ring.
The victim called police from a neighbor's house because the burglars had cut her phone line.
"But I lucky," she said. "They no hurt me."
