An East Islip High School senior was received a "perfect five" on an
AP research project on perfectionism.
Chiara Mosca, 17, was one of just a few hundred students nationwide to achieve the
score.
She focused on the topic of
if perfectionism leads to procrastination in high schoolers.
"Most perfectionists like myself tend to procrastinate things because they
want to prolong that daunting task," Mosca says.
Mosca says the College Board sent
her an email that told her she was part of 1.56% of the world to receive a
perfect score.
The senior was recognized Thursday evening at the East Islip School District's
board of education meeting.
The superintendent gave Mosca high
praise saying, "When you have students and teachers who really care
about working together, there is nothing they can't accomplish. That's what
gives us hope for the future."
Mosca said it was an honor
to receive the recognition and rewarding to address a topic relevant to
adolescence.
Her research found there was no direct link between perfectionism and
procrastination.
