An East Hampton landlord who is being sued for allegedly spying on his tenants is now facing criminal charges.

Donald Torr is accused of setting up more than half a dozen hidden cameras in his East Hampton rental home and recording the activities of nearly two dozen adults and children who vacationed there last summer.

Prosecutor John Cortez says there are hundreds of hours of recordings and claims the cameras were carefully hidden. Prosecutors also say there was a remote digital recording device attached to the cameras that made it possible for Torr to view the footage while outside the home.

Torr's attorney claims he didn't do anything criminal.

"Cameras are in many homes these days for security reasons, especially rental homes to make sure the home is secure when people aren't there and to prevent vandalism when people are there," says attorney Bruce Barket.
