News 12's Doug Geed visited some area breweries in this week's East End segment.
At the brand new Tradewinds Brewing Company in downtown Riverhead there are several fall beers on tap, including a pumpkin ale. They also have a pumpkin stout and a smoked maple stout.
At the sprawling Jamesport Farm Brewery, they set up an outdoor beer garden, an appropriate setting to try their fall beers. They have a first year canning of their Sugarskull Pumpkin Ale. And their whiskey pumpkin ale. The pumpkin ale is aged in LIV Rough Rider barrels for about 11 months. When drinking it, you get the fall spices but you also get at the end of that sip, a little whiskey flavor.
At Moustache Brewing Company in Riverhead you won't find a pumpkin flavored beer, but they do brew a classic Oktoberfest - a traditional German lager. Next weekend is the two-year anniversary of Moustache Brewing's tasting room. They've also added an outdoor seating area, and a new line of hard seltzers with flavors such as mango and tangerine.
