Funeral services were held Saturday for an East Northport Marine who lost his life in Iraq.

Hundreds of people wishing to honor 21-year-old Corporal Christopher Scherer attended the service. The young soldier died earlier this month. His family says they won?t soon forget the soldier?s sense of humor and ultimate sacrifice.

?When I look back on Chris and his life, I will always choose to smile and laugh,? Scherer?s sister Katie said.

People lined the streets with flags outside Centerport United Methodist Church, where the service was held.

?Nothing will ever explain the pride we feel when we utter your name,? Scherer?s other sister, Meghan, said.
