A North Bellmore family are helping support the Ronald McDonald House in honor of their 12-year-old son who died on leukemia.
Dylan Murphy’s parents are hoping to make life better for children battling illnesses by donating Legos to hospitals.
They say while Murphy was undergoing treatment, they were able to stay near the hospital because of the Ronald McDonald House and their son took comfort in playing with Legos.
Dylan’s Dream Team Memorial Foundation helps the parents give out scholarships and build a baseball field so other children can play the sport their son loved.
“The first year that we brought the Legos to Sloan Kettering, he asked us if we could always bring Legos to Sloan, so we made him that promise when he was going through his original treatment, so the foundation helps us keep that promise,” says Donna Murphy.
There is a cornhole tournament Saturday to help their cause.
