The Long Island Ducks are hoping to add "one for the thumb."
The team is back in the Atlantic League playoffs and will be looking for the fifth championship ring in team history.
Their last championship came in 2019.
"We want to win for each other so we can go out and celebrate," Ducks infielder Joe DeCarlo told News12.
The Ducks start a first-round playoff series Tuesday against the Lancaster Barnstormers.
It's a best-out-of-five series, with Lancaster hosting the first two games.
The Ducks will host game three Friday night at 6:35 p.m. They will also host game four on Saturday (6:35 p.m.) and game five on Sunday (5:05 p.m.) if needed at Fairfield Properties Ballpark in Central Islip.
The Barnstormers are the defending Atlantic League champions, but Ducks manager Wally Backman thinks it's a good matchup for his team.
"We are a veteran team with a lot of veteran leadership. I think the idea of having veteran guys who have been in these situations. We have a lot of ex-major league guys who can step up and I think that leadership goes a long way," said Backman.
The Ducks earned their playoff berth by winning the First Half North Division Championship.
The Barnstormers clinched their playoff spot by winning the Second Half North Division Championship.
