After a weeklong trial, former Met and current Long Island Ducks manager Wally Backman has been found not guilty of assaulting his girlfriend.
The incident occurred last August, when prosecutors say Backman pushed his then-girlfriend, Amanda Byrnes, during a fight.
On Friday, a judge found Backman not guilty of criminal mischief and harassment.
In a statement to News 12, the Long Island Ducks say in part, "We had complete confidence that today's decision exonerating Wally Backman of these fraudulent charges would ultimately be the outcome of this case."
