The haze and smoke from the wildfires didn't stop Long Island Ducks fans from hitting the stadium for a double header.
The Ducks game was canceled Wednesday, forcing a twin bill for Thursday.
Not everyone had masks on, but they did agree that the air felt a little better.
Fans like Bernadette Beck say she and her husband were concerned with Wednesday's conditions but felt better about heading to the ballpark Thursday.
Doctors and state officials are warning everyone to stay indoors when possible.
Dr. Sanjay Mohan, an emergency medical physician and medical toxicologist at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, says just because it seems better, doesn't mean the health risk isn't still present.
Doctors say the air quality can affect anyone with or without a pre-existing condition.
