A 26-year-old Brookhaven man was killed by police in his home Friday after pulling a gun on officers who busted into his home as part of a drug raid.
Suffolk County police swarmed Carmine Wisnieski?s home just before 7 a.m. with a search warrant. The drug raid on Wisnieski's home was one of 21 conducted Friday at various locations in Suffolk and Nassau counties and New York City, police say.
Police found Wisnieski in his bedroom pointing a 9 mm gun at them. Police say the officers ordered him to drop the weapon, but he opened fire. Police returned fire, hitting Wisnieski in the chest. He was later pronounced dead at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital.
The Internal Affairs Bureau will investigate the incident, and police say the narcotics probe is still ongoing.
