Police are searching for a driver who took off after slamming into a building in Port Jefferson Station, rupturing a natural gas line.
Authorities say a Jeep Wrangler crashed into a building at Columbia Street and Hallock Avenue around 4 a.m.
Police say the driver of the Jeep fled the crash scene.
Terryville Fire Chief Brendan Pilkington says there were no evacuations in the area and the ruptured gas line was quickly mitigated.
Anyone with information about the driver is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
