A South Huntington man is dead after crashing his car into a guardrail in Bohemia Sunday, leading to an officer hitting his vehicle.
Suffolk police say 22-year-old Derek Romeo hit the rail on Sunrise Highway around 4:15 a.m. According to police, the vehicle?s lights became disabled under an overpass and a patrol car, also traveling westbound, crashed into the car.
Rescue workers found Romeo on the side of the road. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, but say they do not believe Romeo was wearing a seatbelt. The officer was not seriously hurt.
