The downtown business area in St. James is getting a makeover.

Work to upgrade water mains, sewer mains and downtown streets could begin next summer, according to Newsday.

Parts of the Lake Avenue corridor from North Country Road to Patricks Way could be closed for four-six months while work is done.

The project is expected to cost $8.5 million.
