A domestic violence shelter on Long Island is expanding to allow pets.
The victims support organization, LI Against Domestic Violence, has announced the expansion of its shelter in Central Islip.
It will be the first shelter on Long Island to accommodate victims’ pets.
Experts say 65% of victims delay their escape from abusers because they're concerned about what will happen to their pets when they leave.
