The New York state attorney general's office says a Calverton dog rescue group accused of selling sick animals to Long Islanders has been ordered to shut down.
Laura Zambito and Rosemary Torrillo-Hooghkirk, operators of Precious Pups Rescue, Inc., have been barred from all animal-related activity.
The women are accused of illegally "flipping" sick dogs from shelters and telling potential customers that they are healthy.
The pair has been ordered to pay $24,000 in restitution.
