Doctors warn flu season is at its peak
Spring may only be weeks away, but flu season is currently at its peak.
Dr. John Zaso, a pediatrician in East Meadow, warns that flu season is picking up and that he's seeing more of a severe strain of influenza known as H1N1 after a quieter November and December.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, three children have died of flu-related complications in the Northeast U.S. A total of 41 children have died across the country.
Zaso admits the flu shot is not 100 percent effective, but he adds that those who get the shot are not getting as sick.
Doctors say it's not too late to get a flu shot because someone could still come down with the illness, even in May.
