Divers scraped the bottom of a community pond in Wantagh after workers discovered the clothing of a missing woman Monday.

Police report workers at the Forest City Community Park found clothes containing identification for 58-year-old Laurel Buianouchas, who lived around the block. Buianouchas' son reported her missing Sunday after she did not return home Saturday evening. Neighbors describe Buianouchas as having a history of mental illness.

Police called off the search due to darkness late Monday afternoon and say they will continue to search Tuesday. Anyone with information regarding Buianouchas' disappearance is asked to contact Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
