Districts on Long Island are canceling school trips following the recent threats and attacks by Islamic State militants.
Connetquot is canceling scheduled trips to Manhattan in light of recent ISIS threats. The two trips were scheduled for the remainder of this year. Trips scheduled for later in the school year will be re-evaluated based on threat levels at that time.
"At this time, we feel that the reward of the school field trip is outweighed by the risk associated with visitation to either of these two places," said Superintendent Lynda Adams in a letter to parents.
The trips canceled by Connetquot included going to the "Christmas Spectacular" at Radio City Music Hall next month, to Rockefeller Center and to the September 11th Memorial Museum.
NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton said the move is "uncalled for," and he added, "What they're doing is exactly what the terrorists want."

Jericho Schools Superintendent Hank Grishman said the district has canceled a spring trip to Italy. The district also canceled trips to Spain and France. Right now, Jericho has seven planned New York City trips over the next few weeks that have not been canceled.
Freeport has also canceled two spring trips to Europe.
