The state comptroller says a former treasurer was able to steal thousands from the Village of Old Field because no one was paying attention.
Former Old Field Treasurer Andrea Brosnan stole nearly $60,000 from taxpayers and bought clothing, cookbooks, a camera and Yankees paraphernalia.
Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli says village officials failed to keep an eye on village funds.
As News 12 has reported, Brosnan was charged with grand larceny in May and pleaded not guilty.
