Detectives: Men arrested for menacing in Mineola fit description of suspects who robbed NICE bus

Police say Palo Howe, of Hempstead, was seen walking near Mineola Boulevard and Old Country Road Thursday evening when he walked up to a telephone pole, removed a piece of wood and chased Dwayne Smith, of Massapequa, with it.

Two men were stopped by police for menacing in Mineola, but detectives say they could also be responsible for another crime.
Police say Palo Howe, of Hempstead, was seen walking near Mineola Boulevard and Old Country Road Thursday evening when he walked up to a telephone pole, removed a piece of wood and chased Dwayne Smith, of Massapequa, with it.
After they both were arrested, detectives determined they fit the description of two men who robbed a NICE bus.
Smith was also found to have a knife on him during the alleged robbery, authorities say.
