Some residents are concerned about safety at Connetquot State Park as the state decides whether to allow deer hunting in the popular park.
The open bow hunting would start in the fall during daylight hours.
"I have the horses, the dogs, my kids, neighborhood kids that are right here. If someone is shooting, what is to prevent something from coming in and hurting one of my animals?" asks Cathy Wilvert, of Islip Terrace.
A New York State Parks official says the decision will be made within the next few weeks.
Residents say there will be a parks committee meeting on Aug. 3 at Hempstead State Park, where they plan voice their concerns.
