The New York Department of Environmental Conservation says it is going to take time to clean up the six drums filled with chemicals that were dug up at Bethpage Community Park.

The discovery was made during cleanup work at the old Grumman site.

The Town of Oyster Bay says the cleanup is not happening fast enough.

"I think we would to see them move a little quicker, but it is a process that has to be methodical," says Jason Pelton, of the state DEC. "You have to develop your plans, they need to be removed and approved by the DEC, the town of Oyster Bay and the EPA is involved in this. We want to make sure the work gets done right."

The state says around 10,000 pounds of contamination has been removed from Bethpage Community Park.
