Was it a debate or a debacle Tuesday night in Cleveland?
News 12’s Eileen Lehpamer was at the Plainview Shopping Centre to ask people what they thought of the first presidential debate between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden.
Some Long Islanders wondered if the remaining two debates should even be held after nonstop interruptions and insults.
The presidential debate commission says it will soon adopt changes to its format to avoid a repeat of the disjointed first meeting.
The commission said Wednesday the debate “made clear that additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues.”
Moderator Chris Wallace struggled to gain control of the 90-minute debate because of frequent interruptions, primarily by the president.
The next presidential debate is a town hall format scheduled for Oct. 15 in Miami.
