Speaking publicly for the first time since the accident, the day laborer struck by a hit-and-run driver in Medford told news cameras he wants to believe it was an accident.
Adolfo Reyes, a 42-year-old father of four, was mowed down Sunday while he was standing on the side of County Road 83 talking to a friend. Police say the motorist drove about 70 feet on the sidewalk before striking Reyes.
Reyes was hospitalized and suffered a fractured skull, broken collar bone and arm. He says he won?t be able to work for at least a month while he recovers and that waiting on the same corner for a job won?t be the same.
Reyes? attorney David Raimondo says he?s confident the driver will be found. Police are still asking for the public?s help and can be reached at 1-800-220-TIPS. They say they are still investigating whether the incident was a hate crime.
