A 16-year-old Bethpage girl screamed at her father after he was arraigned in the stabbing death of her mother.
Robert Crumb pleaded not guilty today in court. He faces several charges, including second-degree murder, assault and resisting arrest. Police say Crumb killed Maria Crumb in their Bethpage home last month while their daughter and her 12-year-old brother were home.
Tiffany Crumb, 16, suffered stab wounds while trying to defend her mother, according to police.
She screamed profanities after her father pleaded not guilty, and accused him of killing her mother.
Friends and family of Maria Crumb gathered outside the courtroom praying for justice prior to the arraignment, but they did not want to comment. Robert Crumb's parents were in attendance and also did not want to comment. His attorney said the case was not as simple as it may seem.
"You will have to see how the evidence develops at trial," said attorney Stephen Scaring.
In a statement, the district attorney said, "Maria Crumb's life was tragically and violently cut short. We extend our deepest sympathies to her family."

The judge issued a temporary order of protection barring Robert Crumb from going near his children for the time being.
Robert Crumb is still recovering from neck and wrist injuries. After Maria Crumb was stabbed to death, police say that Robert Crumb led officers on a high-speed chase that ended in a fiery crash at a Brooklyn gas station. Surveillance video also shows him get out of his car and charge toward a Nassau police officer.
Robert Crumb's next court date is scheduled for Jan. 12
