Two well-known South Fork publications are joining forces - Dan's Papers is merging with The Independent, the East End's largest newspaper.

Dan's started as a weekly paper out of Montauk in 1960 and is known for its quirky articles about life in the Hamptons.

The paper has also grown into a major digital media company.

The new venture will be called "Dan's Independent Media."
