A Lindenhurst man is using a strict training regimen to keep him away from illegal drugs.

Daniel Tyminski became addicted to heroin following a 15-month deployment to Iraq. He has since devoted himself to CrossFit, a multi-faceted workout program with clinics situated across Long Island.

Tyminski took second place in a Northeast regional tournament, becoming one of just 25 athletes worldwide to qualify for the CrossFit Games.

He says he's been able to move past his addiction and enjoys the natural high of continual exercise.
