Suffolk police are confirming that many recent robberies on Long Island are fueled by the growing heroin epidemic.
According to Newsday, new numbers show 360 robberies have been recorded in the first seven months of this year.
The number is up from 300 for the same period last year.
Suffolk DA Thomas Spota says heroin addicts need to feed their habit with quick cash.
The county is on track to exceed last year's total of 560 robberies.
