A Bay Shore man has been indicted for stabbing a Suffolk County police officer in Amity Harbor, officials say.
Body-camera footage shows the moments after police say the attack unfolded.
The Suffolk district attorney says Steven Vasquez stabbed the officer in the groin and slashed him in the face earlier this month.
Officials say the 22-year-old from Bay Shore was trying to steal from cars and was caught hiding underneath a pickup truck when it happened. The officer is expected to recover.
A second suspect was also arrested for allegedly trying to steal from cars.
Vasquez is due back in court in July.
He is facing up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
