D.A.: Alleged Hofstra rape was consensual

The Nassau County District Attorney's Office says the student who claimed she was raped at Hofstra University admittedto prosecutors Wednesday night that the encounter was consensual.
The 18-year-old woman had reported to police that she was lured into a dorm room Sunday and sexually assaulted by at least four men, one of whom is astudent.
Melissa Connolly, the vice president of university relations at Hofstra, has notified students that the woman had recanted her statements about the incident.
The district attorney's office says Judge Robert Bruno dismissed the charges and ordered the release of Kevin R. Taveras, Jesus L. Ortiz, Stalin Felipe and Rondell Bedward, who is a Hofstra student, Wednesday night. According to the district attorney, a criminal investigation into the statements and reports given by the woman has been launched.
