Gov. Andrew Cuomo and the leaders of the state Senate and Assembly announced an agreement on key issues Tuesday that will affect homeowners, renters and all New York residents.
At the top of the list is an extension of the 2 percent property tax cap and rent control for four years.
The agreement also includes other measures like increased aid to non-public schools and a $1.3 billion property tax rebate program.
Hicksville mom Joanna Vicerra told News 12 that the cap has been great for her family. She says her taxes have only gone up a couple hundred dollars a year. However, she says her family will have to leave Long Island if Albany doesn't make it permanent.
"If they do something about it, absolutely, I'm going to stay," said Vicerra.
