Gov. Andrew Cuomo will face off against Democratic primary challenger Cynthia Nixon in a debate at Hofstra University later this month.
WCBS-TV will host the event on Aug. 29.
"We look forward to providing New Yorkers with the opportunity to hear both candidates explain their positions on the important issues facing our state," Hofstra University said in a statement.
Two-term incumbent Gov. Cuomo had refused to debate his Democratic primary opponent four years ago. Nixon has urged Cuomo for months to debate her and recently alleged that he didn't "want to have an honest debate."
He pledged months ago to debate but declined earlier invitations that she accepted. With only a month to go before the primary, Cuomo's campaign said last week it was still reviewing options and looked forward to "a robust debate."
Nixon, the former "Sex and the City" star, is making her first run for office.
Gov. Cuomo hasn't debated an opponent one-on-one in at least a decade.
