Gov. Andrew Cuomo has opened the door for more entertainment reopenings, with indoor entertainment centers, outdoor amusement parks and overnight summer camps permitted to return in the coming months.
Cuomo says indoor family entertainment centers can open up March 26 at a 25% capacity. Outdoor amusement parks will be allowed to join at 33% capacity on April 9.
Guidelines for the openings include that all places must submit a reopening plan with health protocols to their local health department and face coverings and social distancing are required for customers and staff. Customers must also go through a health screening with a temperature check before being allowed inside.
Urban Air Aventure Park in Lake Grove just last week joined dozens of family entertainment centers across New York in filing a lawsuit to allow them to reopen.
In a statement, Urban Air's owners says, "We thank the governor and his team for recognizing that we can reopen indoor family entertainment in a safe and responsible way, for the benefit of our communities, our businesses and our employees."
Cuomo also announced summer and day camps can plan their reopening. He says more guidance will be coming in the next few weeks.
