Starting
today, tens of thousands of additional New Yorkers will be allowed to roll up
their sleeves for a COVID-19 vaccine.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the state is expanding
the COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to include people age 60 and above.
Availability was previously limited to people 65 and older.
Cuomo
said an expected increase of vaccine shipments made him comfortable with
increasing eligibility.
Long
Islanders who are newly eligible say it'll give them a shot at enjoying life
again.
The
vaccine eligibility pool will expand even more starting March 17. That is when
Gov. Cuomo says public and certain nonprofit employees will be able to get the vaccine.
