New details have come out concerning how Suffolk County's former top prosecutor allegedly tried to halt a federal investigation into former Suffolk Police Chief James Burke.
According to court documents, former District Attorney Tom Spota and top aide Christopher McPartland were successful in blocking an initial investigation in 2015.
But less than a year later, Burke pleaded guilty to depriving Christopher Loeb of his civil rights.
Spota and McPartland are now accused of trying to cover up Burke's actions. Their federal obstruction trial begins in the spring.
