A couple traveled hundreds of miles to a Long Island nursing home to make sure someone special was part of their wedding.
The bride, 33-year-old Louisa Mattera, and her groom David Urban drove from Pennsylvania to Rockville Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in Rockville Centre to make sure Mattera's mom, Ann O'Brien, was part of the special day.
Due to the pandemic, O'Brien had to watch the wedding from a glass enclosure at the facility.
"It's emotional, it's bittersweet, as much as I wish I could hug her I'm just grateful that she was able to see it, you know what I mean?" says Mattera. "I'll sacrifice the hugs and all that just so that she could see it."
The couple, who are both from Queens, say they plan on having a bigger wedding Oct. 30, 2021 in Pennsylvania.
