Curran: Belmont given green light to resume racing without audiences
 
County Executive Laura Curran gave an update Saturday on the COVID-19 response in Nassau.
BREIFING NOTES:
-7 more lives were lost in Nassau due to COVID-19.
-Curran says Gov. Cuomo has given the green light for horse racing to resume in New York without audiences, so she says "our beloved Belmont" can resume races this summer.
-Curran notes that Suffolk and Westchester have been given the go-ahead to resume elective surgeries and says she is working with the state to get Nassau's elective surgeries to resume as well.
-Curran says Nassau has met 5 of the 7 metrics required to begin Phase 1 of reopening. She says there's tensions in the community as everyone is eager to reopen, and says we all agree that we must reopen in a way that mitigates risks.
