? A New York City corrections officer pleaded not guilty to DWI and vehicular manslaughter Friday following a fatal accident in Uniondale.
Police say 45-year-old Junior Jordan, of Uniondale, was drunk when his SUV collided with 61-year-old Maria Balan?s car at the intersection of Uniondale Avenue and Waverly Place at approximately 5:40 a.m. Thursday.
Balan was transported to Nassau University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police say Jordan refused a Breathalyzer test at the time of the crash. However, in court Friday, prosecutors told a judge he admitted to drinking four scotch drinks the night of the crash. Jordan is due back in court Nov. 18. Police are still waiting for the result of his blood alcohol tests.
