Stephanie Mills did not show up to her scheduled court date Monday.
She is facing 34 felony charges, accused of falsifying vaccination records of more than a half-dozen students in the Middle Country School District.
A new court date was set for April 25. No one answered the door at Mills’s Coram home.
In a statement, Middle Country Superintendent Dr. Roberta Gerold said:
"The District is aware that Ms. Mills was arrested on charges stemming from her falsification of vaccination records for multiple students in the District in the 2023-2024 school year. The District, upon determining those records were falsified, reported that fact to law enforcement and the New York State Department of Health, as required by regulation. Those students whose records were falsified were excluded from school until the District was given verifiable proof that the students had either received the required vaccinations or plans were made to ensure they did receive the required vaccinations as stipulated by state regulations. All students have been attending school in the current school year and are fully vaccinated or are in compliance with state protocols for required inoculations.
The District cannot comment on individual student matters nor release any information that may pertain to individual student records. The District’s foremost priority is the health and safety of all students in the District and complies with all state mandates regarding required student vaccinations and DOH reporting. The District will continue to cooperate with law enforcement and the DOH in their ongoing investigations into this matter."
