Tension filled the hallways at Baldwin High School Friday, the end of a week marked by brawls and injuries.
Following the 2:45 p.m. dismissal Wednesday, "a mob of students, mostly boys, were trampling and fighting," freshman Seno Akpanuko said. Nassau police were called, and a teacher and security guard were taken to South Nassau Hospital after trying unsuccessfully to break up the fight.
As the violence continued with more fighting Thursday, administrators canceled all after-school activities and sports. Nassau County police officers patrolled the hallways Friday and the same extra security is planned for Monday.
