Police say charges could be upgraded against a Ronkonkoma man after a crash that killed a 5-year-old.
Police say Steven Kinalis was high on drugs when he rear ended Kevin Gaffney's truck on Saturday on Sunrise Highway in Shirley.
Gaffney's son John was critically injured in the crash.
The West Islip little boy died yesterday.
Gaffney, his wife, 7, and 2-year-old children suffered less serious injuries.
Kinalis is charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs but the charges could be upgraded when he returns to court Wednesday.
