Police are searching for a teacher from Rockville Centre that suddenly disappeared Monday.
Officials say they found 29-year-old Leah Walsh's car at around 6:30 a.m. The car was found with a flat tire near exit 9 on the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway. It was locked and Walsh?s purse was found a few feet from her car.
Walsh is a special education teacher in the Glen Cove School District. School officials say she never showed up for work Monday.
The school?s executive director released this statement: ?The school for Language and Communication Development would like to express our concern for Leah?s family and her safety. We will help with the investigation in any way possible.?
Police say she was driving a black 2005 Ford Focus with a large Mets sticker on the back windshield. Police are treating Walsh?s disappearance as a missing persons case and are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
