Officers say the driver, 30-year-old Jose Garcia-Lazo, of Bay Shore, was found to be intoxicated. They say his 9-year-old daughter was in the front passenger seat.
An investigation revealed that Garcia-Lazo had been involved in a crash about an hour earlier on Straight Path in Wyandanch, and he had allegedly fled the scene. No one was injured in the crash.
Garcia-Lazo is being charged with driving while intoxicated under Leandra's Law, driving while ability impaired, endangering the welfare of a child and leaving the scene of a reportable accident.
