Cops: Driver who hit patrol car was high, texting

Police say a woman was on drugs and texting behind the wheel when she rear-ended a cop car and then smashed into a building in West Islip. It happened on Udall Road by Higbie Lane around 12:30 p.m.

Police say a woman was on drugs and texting behind the wheel when she rear-ended a cop car and then smashed into a building in West Islip.
It happened on Udall Road by Higbie Lane around 12:30 p.m. Sunday. Police say the woman rear-ended a police car and then another vehicle before crashing through a fence and into a vacant commercial structure.
Police have not yet identified the female driver or released her age.
They say she was arrested for driving while ability impaired by drugs. She was not injured.
The police officer that was in the patrol car was taken to Southside Hospital for minor injuries.
The driver of the third vehicle involved was not injured.
