Nassau police believe two similar home invasions that took place in Massapequa Park Wednesday night are not related.
Stella Maopiedi, 86, said she was scared for her life when she awoke to three men breaking into her Belair Drive home.
"He's standing over the bed and says 'Where's your wallet?'" Maopiedi said.
The men entered through an unlocked screen in a second-story window. Maopiedi said one of the burglars also attacked her son. According to police, the men might've unsuccessfully tried to break into a neighbor's home earlier.
Elsewhere in Massapequa, police said a single burglar entered a Quail Run home through a screen window minutes before the incident on Belair Drive.
"That person had already been in the house and stole several items and fled when he woke up the victim," Nassau Police Det. Lt. Kevin Smith said.
The crimes aren't believed to be related.
"The times that the officers were dispatched to both locations [were] very close, so it seems like these people couldn't be in two places at one time," Smith said.
Anyone with information regarding either burglary is asked to contact Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
