A garage roof collapsed as two contractors worked on top of it Monday morning in Freeport, according to the Village Mayor Robert T. Kennedy.
Police say the roof on Lillian Avenue had previously been damaged in a fire.
Authorities received a call around 11:17 a.m. reporting that the structure gave out.
One of the contractors was hospitalized with minor injuries.
The mayor says the contractors were also fined because they were working without a permit.
