Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the completion of construction on seven along Island bridges and overpasses, a project that cost $48 million dollars.
The Hospital Road Bridge in East Patchogue is among the newly improved spans. The bridge serves as a vital link to Long Island Community Hospital.
The new bridge has extra lanes, new sidewalks, wider shoulders and ADA-compliant crossing signals.
Five overpasses on the Long Island Expressway received new concrete decking.
The Hubbards Path bridge in West Babylon underwent a complete rehabilitation.
The projects were completed with minimal disruption to traffic, according to DOT officials.
Announcing the completion of the projects, Gov. Hochul said, "From paving potholes to building bridges, I'm committed to repairing Long Island's transportation infrastructure. These bridge projects will improve critically important roadways on Long Island and will help ensure our infrastructure is built to last."
