A construction company owner is facing charges for allegedly dumping construction debris along Jerusalem Avenue and the Meadowbrook Parkway.
New York's Transportation Department found the dumped debris on April 20. The Nassau County District Attorney's Office says it was in four large piles that weighed about 80,000 pounds. It has since been cleaned up.
Investigators with the state Department of Environmental Conservation tracked down the source of the debris to a demolition project at a home in Forest Hills, Queens.
The district attorney says the construction company hired L&J Stucco to remove the debris. The company's owner, 39-year old Jose Napoleon Cruz Maltez, of Valley Stream, is charged with several misdemeanors and one felony - criminal mischief in the first degree.
He is facing up to 7 ½ years in prison, if convicted.
